IPL 2025

Following suspension of one week in wake of the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is set to resume either on May 16 or 17.

As per sources, there is also a possibility of the final being moved out of Kolkata.

As per reports, the announcement of ceasefire between India and Pakistan on Saturday paved the way for resumption of the current edition of the cash-rich league that was suspended on May 9 for seven days.

It has been learnt that the IPL Governing Council members and the BCCI officials discussed the resumption plan on Sunday. Meanwhile, BCCI vice-president Rajeev Shukla informed that the board is still working on creating a suitable schedule for the resumption of IPL 2025.

BCCI sources revealed that the league is likely to resume with the encounter between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in Lucknow. Earlier, the game was supposed to be played on May 9.

The source further informed that there won't be any change in the venue for Qualifier I and Eliminator that Hyderabad was supposed to host. However, Kolkata may miss out on hosting the final, most likely on June 1, due to rain forecast on that day in the city.

"As of now there is no change in venues for the play-off stage but it seems rain can affect the final in Kolkata. In that case the final could be played in Ahmedabad," said a BCCI official.

It has been learnt that Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals will be awarded a point each due to the earlier abandoned game between them.

Most likely, the remainder of IPL 2025 will be restricted to Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Lucknow.
