Ind vs Eng Test series: Former England great bats for Virat Kohli to be Team India captain

Following the retirement of veteran cricketer Rohit Sharma from Test cricket, it has been learnt that prolific batter Virat Kohli is also going to announce his retirement from the longest format of the game soon.

Under the circumstance, BCCI is looking for a new Test captain of Team India and promising batter Shubman Gill is reportedly leading the race.

Meanwhile, former England captain Michael Vaughan has advocated for Kohli to be the captain of India for the upcoming Test series against England. He also added that Gill could be the vice captain for this tour.

"If I was India I would give the captaincy to Virat for the Test series in England .. Shubman Gill can be his VC for the tour," wrote Vaughan on his social media account X (earlier known as Twitter).

As per sources, Kohli had also expressed his desire to return as the Test captain of India. However, the selectors wanted a youngster to be the next captain of India in the longest format of the game ahead of the next Word Test Championship cycle.

It has been learnt that the decision of the selectors has miffed Kohli and as a result he is keen to announce his retirement from Test cricket soon.
