Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a convincing 23-run victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) in a match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday. It was Delhi Capitals fifth consecutive loss.
However, a controversial moment occurred after the match which caught the attention of the fans and caused a stir on the internet. As both the team players and support staff were exchanging customary handshakes after the completion of the match, RCB’s star batter Virat Kohli and Delhi Capitals Team Director Sourav Ganguly passed each other without shaking hands. While Kohli was right behind RCB captain Faf du Plessis, Ganguly was behind Delhi head coach Ricky Ponting.
It is found in the video, which has surfaced over various social media platforms, that Ganguly shook hands with Du Plessis and when his turn arrived to greet Kohli, the latter seemed to refuse. The video of the incident has gone viral over various social media platforms.
Earlier it has been reported that there has been a misunderstanding between Kohli and Ganguly during the latter’s tenure as the BCCI chairman. Kohli even stepped down from Team India’s captaincy during that period. At that time, rumours were doing rounds that Kohli was forced to take the decision under BCCI’s pressure.
After the video went viral, fans became more curious to know about the current relationship between both the former Indian captains. They flooded the comment box with interesting comments.
In response to the video, a fan wrote, “Virat Kohli didn’t shook hand with Sourav Ganguly. He is still very angry with the politics that Ganguly played with him.”
“Virat Kohli didn’t shake hands with sourav ganguly. Self-respect is greater than anything for king Kohli,” tweeted another fan.
Throwing his support behind Ganguly, a third user commented, “He is Sourav Ganguly who made Steve Waugh wait for toss when Australia was at peak of their cricket. You can’t show attitude to Dada, he himself has a lot of it.”
