India’s Mr 360 degree batsman Suryakumar Yadav remains an enigma in international cricket. While he continues to peak in T20Is, his ODI form is plummeting.
SKY (as Suryakumar is popularly known) who became the No. 1 ranked batter in T20Is back in October 2022 has held on to the position ever since. It’s purely because of the red-hot form he has exuded in his comfort zone of T20 cricket.
Reflecting on SKY’s performance, former England captain Nasser Hussain has singled the explosive batsman out as the player to watch out for at the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024.
However, Hussain was surprised about SKY’s contrasting form in ODI and T20 format.
“The person for the world to watch out for at the moment in T20 is Suryakumar Yadav,” Hussain told ICC in an interaction.
“I mean, the bloke is a freak. The cliche of Mr. 360, but some of the shots he plays... and he is a bit of a freak because in fifty-overs cricket, he doesn’t quite know when to go, when not to go, what to do. But in T20 cricket, he absolutely knows what to do almost every single time, and it’s a fun game, T20 cricket and watching SKY, that is absolutely fun,” he added.
