The stage is all set for counting of votes for the Lok Sabha elections and state assembly of Odisha on June 4, 2024. The voting for 21 Parliamentary constituency seats and 147 Assembly constituency seats were conducted on May 13, May 20, May 25 and June 1, 2024.

There was re-poll in two booths under Kantamala Assembly Constituency of Boudh districts on May 23, official sources said. Senior Odisha Police officials informed that all the polled EVMs have been kept in EVM strong rooms at 69 locations (78 buildings) spread among 34 police districts.

Security Arrangements

As per Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines, a two-tier security arrangement has been made for each strong room. In the first layer, 1 platoon of CAPF personnel have been deployed forming an inner cordon while another one platoon of State Armed Force has been deployed in the outer cordon.

Apart from the two-tier security arrangement, the periphery of the EVM strong room campus is guarded by district police personnel.

Counting Of Votes

The counting of votes for 21 Parliamentary constituency seats and 147 Assembly constituency seats will be held tomorrow.

There will be 147 counting centers, one each for 147 Assembly constituencies and 21 Counting centers, one each for 21 Parliamentary constituencies. A three-tier security arrangement has been made at each location for peaceful and flawless counting of votes.

The Election Commission of India has provided 70 Companies of additional CAPF for deployment at 70 counting centre locations exclusively for maintenance of law and order in Odisha.
