A day before the third phase polling in Odisha on May 25, cash amounting to Rs 2.5 lakh was seized from a BJD leader in the Ramchandrapur area of Keonjhar on Friday. 

As per reports, a flying squad and the additional SP were carrying out vehicle checking in the Ramchandrapur area of Keonjhar district. They stopped the vehicle of Ramachandrapur sarpanch and BJD leader, Tulu Sahu. During checking, some leaflets, banners and Rs 2, 51,000 were seized.

Since he couldn’t give satisfactory answers, the money was seized and Ramchandrapur Police let him go on personal bond. 

Earlier on Thursday, Rs 84,000 cash was seized from the vehicle of Sabitri Sethi, wife of BJD’s MLA candidate for the Anandapur Assembly seat, Abhimanyu Sethi. 

Prior to these two incidents, there were several such cases also reported from different parts of the state.
