Rs 7.5 lakh cash seized in Bargarh as election monitoring intensifies; Rs 25L seized so far in western Odisha

Ahead of the 2024 elections, a combined operation by the Flying Surveillance Team and local police in Bargarh, Odisha resulted in the seizure of Rs 7.5 lakh from an SUV. This brings the total amount seized in western Odisha to over Rs 25 lakh as part of ongoing election monitoring efforts.

Acting on a tip-off, members of the Flying Surveillance Team (FST) in a combined operation with the local police seized a staggering Rs 7.5 lakh cash in Odisha’s Bargarh. The FST and Bargarh’s Sohela police made the seizure following checking at a checkpoint near Luhurachati village.

The cash was seized from an SUV. The money was seized after the driver failed to give a satisfactory answer about the sources of the cash and where it was being taken.

Similarly, Rs 3 lakh cash was reportedly seized during a raid at Kosaibahal under Bamra block of Sambalpur district. The FST team seized the money during vehicle inspection and detained the person for further investigation.

The seized money has been kept at Kuchinda sub-treasury, reports said. With this, money worth over Rs 25 lakh has been seized till now in western Odisha. Earlier, the team had seized around 12.88 lakh in three different instances in Kuchinda.
