Odisha Elections 2024: BJP, BJD, Cong exude confidence ahead of counting 

With the time for counting of votes inching closer, the three main political parties in the state – Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress- are waiting for the results with bated breath. 

These three main political parties are also hopeful of forming the govt in the state. 

The BJP asserted that the voters who had made them number two in 2019 would make them number one. 

“I am confident that the people of Odisha have showered blessings on us and we will become number one. Odisha’s 99 per cent people have faith in Narendra Modi and we are sure that they are giving us a chance to serve them,” said Samir Mohanty, senior BJP leader. 
Similarly, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) is also sanguine about winning from 107 to 117 seats.

“We have been with the people since day one of the formation of the government. So why should we fear? They are migrating birds. They come to Odisha two months before the elections and make whirlwind campaigns. Tomorrow you will see there will be ‘sankha’ everywhere,” said BJD MLA Sambit Routray. 

The grand old party Congress has also pinned hope on getting a mandate in favour of INDI Alliance. 

“The exit poll is nothing but a drama providing entertainment for two to three days. In elections, the people of India have shown the way to exit to the outgoing Prime Minister,” said Biswaranjan Mohanty, president, Odisha Congress Media Cell.
