Youth caught abusing FM College girl student inside campus, arrested
A 25-year-old youth from Mayurbhanj district was arrested for allegedly entering the East Campus of Fakir Mohan (FM) Autonomous College in Balasore and misbehaving with a female student on Monday. He allegedly used obscene language and issued threats.
Police arrested him following a formal complaint by the victim.

The accused youth has been identified as Chandan Kumar Giri, a permanent resident of Badagambharia locality under Badasahi police limits in Mayurbhanj district.
As per the FIR lodged by the female student at Town Police Station, the youth unlawfully entered the college campus and hurled vulgar abuses at her, also threatening her with dire consequences. The incident triggered outrage on campus, prompting the victim to file a written complaint with Balasore town police.
Acting swiftly on the complaint, local police arrested the youth and produced him before the court, informed Town Police Station IIC Bijaya Kumar Das.
Police investigations are going on, and authorities are also looking into how the accused managed to access the campus despite security protocols.
No comments were received from the female student or local police in this regard.
Earlier in another incident, FM College in Balasore district had hogged the headlines.
The girl student, who set herself ablaze outside Fakir Mohan College principal’s chamber in Balasore on July 12, succumbed to her burns on July 14 night. The deceased had sustained 90–95 percent burn injuries, many of which were deep and caused serious internal damage, affecting her kidneys and respiratory system.
Despite adequate resuscitation and all possible supportive management, including renal replacement therapy at Burns ICU, she could not be revived and was declared clinically dead at around 11.45 PM at AIIMS Bhubaneswar.
