The New Year started on a bad note in Bhubaneswar as a gang of seven to eight miscreants attacked a youth murderously in Rajdhani Club at Sailashree Vihar under Chandrasekharpur Police limits of Bhubaneswar on Monday night.

The injured youth, identified as Sangram Singh, a member of the above-mentioned club, is undergoing treatment at the Capital Hospital. On Tuesday, the club members visited the police station and demanded immediate arrest of all miscreants involved in the attack.

The group of weapon-wielding masked miscreants entered the club and started attacking Singh before fleeing from the spot. Later, a profusely bleeding Singh was rescued and rushed to Capital Hospital. The entire incident was captured in the CCTV cameras installed in the club.

Following the incident, a complaint was registered at Chandrasekharpur Police Station. Later, a team from the police station visited the club and inspected the visuals captured in the CCTV cameras.

Informing about the incident, the secretary of the club said, “I received a call at about 1 am that a member of the club was attacked. I immediately reached the club only to find Singh in a pool of blood. The visuals captured in the CCTV cameras revealed 10 to 12 masked miscreants entering the club and attacking Singh.”

‘We could identify one of the miscreants as Salu as he didn’t cover his face. He has criminal antecedents. We are yet to understand why he did so because we don’t have any enmity with him. I think they did this under the influence of drugs on New Year’s Day,” he added.
