The assembly results of three states- Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh- which went in favour of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have come as a surprise for many. However, winning Chhattisgarh has given immense confidence to the BJP as no exit poll had shown the saffron party coming to power in the state.
Speaking on the results of the assembly elections, BJP National Vice-President Baijayant Panda on Monday once again reiterated that the victories clearly show that the people of the country have reposed their faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.
“It was said that Chhattisgarh was Congress’ strong hold and no exit or opinion poll showed that BJP would win there. It was only state where BJP’s defeat was said to be inevitable. BJP not only won Chhattisgarh, but with a huge margin,” said Panda while addressing an event today in Kendrapara.
While trying to strike a chord, Panda said, “Yesterday Chhattisgarh, next year its Odisha. Efforts are being made to create an atmosphere that the present government in Odisha is undefeatable and the government here is powerful with money, muscle power and officer power. But, nothing will work.”
According to Panda, there has been massive development in the country as well as economy under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. India undertook a massive vaccination drive and extended help to other countries in times of need as well. The schemes launched by Prime Minister have reached people’s doorstep, said Panda. However, some schemes like Ayushman Bharat could not reach people in Odisha.
“The people of Odisha will get benefits of central schemes if there is BJP’s double-engine government here,” said Panda while urging party workers to work as a team and strengthen booths and claimed that there is growing resentment among people over the present government in Odisha.
“The people of Odisha want a government of Odias and we want to assure them that BJP will fight against the money, muscle and officer power,” Panda added.
