In a heart-wrenching and shameful incident, a woman was allegedly gang-raped in front of her husband in Arakhakuda Marine Police limits in the Brahmagiri area of Puri district. A complaint in this regard was filed by the victim at the police station.

In her complaint, the victim said that two people identified as Trinath Behera and his associate Bulu Behera gang-raped her in a mango orchard. 

She alleged that Trinath called her husband from her house to the mango orchard. The accused gave her husband liquor before attacking him by tying up his hand and legs. It was around 10.30 pm in the night and when her husband screamed for help, she rushed to the spot.

There, the two were under the spell of liquor and dragged her to another place and gang-raped her, she added.

Sources said the victim was medically examined.

Meanwhile, police have started an investigation into the incident and arrested one of the accused.

The husband of the victim alleged, “After I returned home from work, Trinath and Bulu (accused) took me to a place and offered me liquor. Then they tied me to a bush and raped my wife in front of me. The incident took place at around 11.30 pm.”

IIC Samsmita Behera said, “A case has been registered under section 376(D) of IPC following a complaint from a woman. The victim is being medically examined. An accused has been detained and will be produced in court.”
