VSSUT University Professor suspended for poor attendance, intoxication

An Associate Professor at VSSUT University, Sambalpur Odisha, has been suspended following allegations of poor attendance and taking classes in an intoxicated state.

The professor from the Department of Humanities is accused of failing to attend his regular classes and coming to classes in an intoxicated manner, raising concerns among fellow faculty and students alike.

Accusations of Alcohol Influence

The professor also faces allegations of being under the influence of alcohol while on campus. These allegations prompted an internal investigation to ascertain the veracity of the claims. 

Authorities at the institution announced that the suspension would remain in effect until the completion of the inquiry.

The decision to suspend the professor reflects the institution's commitment to maintaining a high standard of education and the welfare of its students, said the university authorities.

Misbehaviour On Lady Lecturer:

A few months back, a lady lecturer also brought serious allegations of misbehaviour against a professor at VSSUT in Sambalpur. As per norms, the matter was first reported to the Internal Complaints Committee and later submitted to the then Vice-Chancellor by the committee.

However, later concerns were expressed over the inordinate delay over the slow pace of the probe into the allegations.
