An assistant professor of the prestigious Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) has been handed over ‘compulsory retirement’ on charges of ‘breach of discipline’.
The University Board of Management imposed ‘compulsory retirement’ on Sasmita Kumari Padhi, assistant professor of the Burla-based VSSUT computer application department. The lady professor was also earlier suspended from the University.
The action came a few days after the Board of Management on September 30 held a meeting regarding her habitual misbehavior on the premises of the University. The board took up the probe after there were several complaints and found her a habitual offender.
Acting on the decision of the Board of Management, the Vice-Chancellor of VSSUT Bansidhar Majhi ordered ‘compulsory retirement’ for Professor Sasmita.
“An inquiry committee was set up to probe allegations of indiscipline against a lady professor of the computer application department. The inquiry report was put before the Board of Management during a meeting on September 30. Based on the report, the Board of Management decided to take action against her,” informed VC Bansidhar Majhi.
