Amidst the ongoing hue and cry and mystery, Rourkela Police on Wednesday ruled out any connection between the death of Rourkela’s assistant Collector Sushmita Minj and lady ASI, Alisa Narmi Lugun’s death.
Rourkela SP, Mitrabhanu Mohapatra said, “All the allegations that there are links between the cases of Assistant Collector and lady ASI's death are not correct. There is no link as the Assistant Collector case has been registered at Plant Site while lady ASI’s death has been registered at Udit Nagar police station.”
Mohapatra informed that it is being alleged that the lady ASI was the PSO of deceased Assistant Collector or was part of the investigation. Moreover, Assistant Collector Sushmita Minj had never sought for protection, the SP added.
In the lady ASI’s death case, a case under IPC section 302 has been registered and the viral video has been also been taken into case record and appropriate action will be taken.
“A team of doctors conduct the post-mortem and the entire thing has been videographed. We are expecting the autopsy report soon,” said Mohapatra.
Lugun, who was posted at Udit Nagar police station, died under mysterious circumstances while on duty at an accident site. In the viral video from the accident site at RMC Square ring road, Lugun was seen holding the hand of a woman while some others were trying to free her. Moreover, there was an altercation between Lugun and those persons.
Senior police officials said that a DSP rank officer is carrying out a probe into the death of Assistant Collector Sushmita Minj whose body was recovered from a pond on September 19.
Meanwhile, Gurundia BDO Benati Lakra and CDPO were quizzed in connection with the incident today.
