A truck crashed into a house in Bargarh
A series of accidents left behind a trail of tragedy on Sunday in Odisha claiming two lives and leaving nine other people severely injured at locations including Bargarh, Paradip, and Angul districts.
In the first of these unfortunate events, a container truck lost balance and crashed into a house nearly flattening the structure on Sunday evening near Turunga village Chhak under Bargarh Sadar limits.
An elderly woman lost her life in the accident while her son and daughter-in-law, who sustained serious injuries, were rescued and sent to the district headquarters hospital for treatment.
Sources stated that the container truck was reportedly en route from Raipur to Bargarh when the accident occurred.
Tension prevailed in the area following the event as local residents blocked the Sohela-Chhattisgarh road but the blockade was lifted after administrative officials arrived at the scene and managed to pacify them.
Meanwhile, police seized the truck and registered a case, initiating an investigation.
In another accident, an SUV rammed into three motorcycles from behind on Fatehpur-Trilochanpur road on the outskirts of Paradip, causing the bikes to fall into a ditch, whereas the driver of the car fled the scene.
Six persons sustained severe injuries in the mishap and were admitted to Kujang Medical Center whereas two critically injured individuals were transferred to the SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
In the third instance, one person died, and another was critically injured in a road accident near the Bentpur overbridge of Angul when a speeding truck hit a motorbike from behind.
Two brothers on the motorcycle fell off the road and one of them died while another was left critically injured and is currently undergoing treatment at the district hospital.
In all the incidents police are currently carrying out an investigation and have not yet offered any comments.
