Two killed in separate road accidents in Odisha

A cement-laden truck fell 30 feet into a culvert near Bariha Pita, Nayagarh, killing the driver. The vehicle was en route from Visakhapatnam to Sundargarh and lost control. Rescue efforts were hampered by height.

Separate accidents claim two lives in Odisha

The driver of a cement-laden truck died after the vehicle fell off 30 feet into a culvert near Bariha Pita village under the Daspalla police station limits of Nayagarh district early on Thursday morning.

According to sources, the truck was en route from Visakhapatnam to Sundargarh when it lost control and veered off-road, subsequently falling into the culvert.

Reports added that the driver remained trapped inside the vehicle for a long time and was unable to be rescued, because of the height, before eventually succumbing to his injuries.

Firefighters arrived at the scene a while later and had to deploy cutting tools to open the door and retrieve the deceased driver’s body.

In another separate accident yesterday, one person died while another was critically injured when the motorbike they were travelling in crashed into a tree in Rampur village near Binka in Subarnapur district.

As per reports, two individuals were returning from a fair on a motorcycle when they suddenly faced a tree in front and collided with it, unable to steer away.

Both victims were rescued and admitted to Binka Medical Center, where doctors declared one of them brought dead.

As per the latest reports, the other injured person has been transferred to Burla Medical Center for further treatment.

Concerned police authorities of the respective districts are currently investigating both incidents but have not offered any comments on the matter as of yet.
