Train in target of Naxals? Landmine recovered near tracks in Odisha’s Sundargarh

Was any train in the target of the Naxals? Such speculation is now rife after 10 kg landmine was recovered from a railway tracks near Topadihi railway station under K Balang police limits in Sundargarh district.

The landmine was recovered during a search operation by police and DVF. Later, the explosive was defused by the bomb squad.

SDPO Swaraj Debata said, “It was an old landmine which was buried and it surfaced after the mud got washed away under the influence of heavy rainfall. The explosive had also degraded and we subsequently defused it.”

Debadata said that the information regarding the recovery of a tiffin-like material was received and a team rushed to the spot and defused it.

Meanwhile, combing and search operation has been intensified by CRPF in the area following the incident.
