Traffic control in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack: Students to assist the Commissionerate Police

In a civic-friendly move, students will now assist the Commissionerate Police in managing traffic across the Twin City of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. This is a citizen-policing initiative aimed at improving traffic regulation.

This was officially announced by Police Commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh. Speaking to the media, Commissioner Singh stated, “Today, 53 students have joined the Commissionerate Police as traffic volunteers.”

All the student volunteers have been provided with a specific uniform and a cap for identification. These students will now take up traffic responsibilities alongside their academic commitments, contributing actively to public service.

The Commissioner emphasized that the student volunteers will balance their academic responsibilities alongside their traffic management duties. Their involvement, he said, would play a significant role in strengthening the city's traffic system.

Singh further said, “Their participation will be a big support for us,” highlighting the importance of youth participation in civic duties.

“This initiative will further strengthen our traffic management system,” he added.

This collaborative effort is expected to enhance public awareness, promote traffic discipline, and reduce congestion across key junctions in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. This initiative is also expected to foster a sense of responsibility among youth while easing the load on traffic personnel.
