Chaos during the group clash
Tension ran high after a wedding procession abruptly turned violent last night when a clash broke out between two groups in Chandipitha village under Khalikote police station of Ganjam district. Instances of knife attacks during the prevalent chaos left three injured, all of whom were subsequently admitted to the Khalikote Community Health Center for treatment.
Sources reported that the incident occurred at about 10 pm in Chandipitha village when a wedding procession was heading towards the mandap. Holding close bonds to the groom, some youths from the adjacent Bikrampur village joined the wedding as invited guests and were part of the procession.
At one point during the celebrations, two groups, both from Bikrampur village, attacked one another. Sources also added that the two factions reportedly had some kind of pre-existing animosity, which led to the conflict.
