Local Forest Department officials, in cooperation with coastguard, have secured the object.
What the preliminary probe suggests
Early investigations suggest that the object might have become dislodged during a collision involving cargo vessels or in the course of loading operations. The coastguard surmises that it subsequently drifted to the beach under the influence of sea current.
Local Forest Department, coastguard, and police authorities are yet to comment on the matter.
Worth mentioning, several objects were also previously found on the beaches in Odisha.
Earlier in another incident, a mysterious container which washed ashore at famous Puri beach had grabbed the eyeballs as hundreds of locals rushed to get a glance of it. Some fishermen had spotted the container and alerted the district administration.
