Telecom services not to be affected in Odisha during Cyclone Dana
Telecom services will not be affected in Odisha during Cyclone Dana and the Telecom Department has made elaborate preparations for it, informed Odisha IT Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Thursday.
Minister Mahaling further informed that a meeting in this regard has been held with the authorities of telecom companies like Jio, Airtel, BSNL and Vodafone. Apart from that, intra-circle roaming in the Odisha network system has also been provided from this morning.
“If the network drops at any place during the cyclone, it will be automatically connected with another network. DGs have been kept ready in all the mobile towers. If technical problems are found in any tower, technical teams of all the telecom companies have been kept ready,” said Minister Mahaling.
“If the network facility of any telecom company drops, it will be automatically connected with the common network facility. It will help a lot in the rescue operation and communication with the family members during the cyclone. Elaborate preparations have been made to provide proper telecom services in as many as 15 affected districts including seven Red Zones during the cyclone,” he added.
