A woman gave birth to a baby boy at Niali Hospital after being evacuated for the impending Cyclone Dana. The I&PR Department of Odisha informed about this through an 'X' post on Thursday.

“Authorities have ensured the safe delivery of a baby boy at Niali Hospital amidst the ongoing preparations for #CycloneDana. The evacuated woman Sai Swopna Behera and her newborn are doing well. Disaster response teams are on the ground ensuring safety and medical care for all,” tweeted the I & PR Department along with a picture of the mother and the baby.

Reportedly, both the mother and the child were doing well and under medical observation.

According to reports, at least 2,338 pregnant women have been safely admitted to various hospitals. They are being provided with the best health services.

As the severe cyclonic storm Dana is nearing towards coastal Odisha, rainfall activities have started across the State. 

As per reports, cyclone Dana is all set to make landfall somewhere between Odisha's Bhitarkanika and Dhamra.

At least 19 NDRF, 51 ODRAF and 220 fire tender teams are at the ground level, the CM informed today after reviewing the preparedness. He further said that another 158 platoons of police force have been deployed in all the districts.
