After the Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) in Bhubaneswar received a bomb threat on Thursday, Jharsuguda Airport in the state also received a hoax bomb threat today.
As per reports, all the necessary procedures were followed as per the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) and security checking was intensified at Jharsuguda Airport following the hoax bomb threat.
It was rumoured that Bengaluru-Jharsuguda Indigo flight has a bomb in it. Dog squad and bomb squad personnel were immediately pressed into service at the airport after the flight landed at Jharsuguda Airport.
The travelers were reportedly in a state of panic following the development. However, the call about the bomb threat was found to be hoax as no bombs were found at Jharsuguda Airport. Meanwhile, high alert has been sounded at the airport following the bomb threat.
Earlier, Bhubaneswar airport also received a similar bomb threat. However, the director of the airport, Prasanna Pradhan later informed the threat hoax after security checks were carried out at the airport.
As many as 95 flights of IndiGo, Vistara, SpiceJet, Air India, Akasa Air and Alliance Air received similar threats on Thursday. So far, around 250 flights have received such threats in the past 10 days.
Such Prior to today's incident, more than 170 flights received bomb threats, with a majority of them originating from social media platforms.
Though all the threats later found out to be hoax, with a majority of such threats being originating from social media platforms, it has been creating major inconvenience for the air passengers.
