Odisha's Subhadra Yojana third phase launches tomorrow in Sundargarh, aiding 2 million women. Deputy CM Pravati Parida confirms Rs 50,000 aid over five years.

The Odisha government is all set to launch the third phase of its cash transfer scheme ‘Subhadra Yojana’ tomorrow i.e. November 24. The third phase disbursement of the first insllament will be released during a special programme in Sundargarh district, benefiting more than 2 million women.

“The next phase of Subhadra Yojana assistance will be released on November 24 during a special programme in Sundargarh. So far, the assistance has been disbursed to around 60.27L beneficiaries. More than 20 lakh women will get the money on November 24,” Deputy CM Pravati Parida told media persons.

The Odisha government aims to include over one crore women in the Subhadra Yojana. Deputy CM Pravati Parida earlier revealed that those excluded in the third phase will be given the money in the fourth/last phase by December.

“Verification of the documents has been completed. Over 1 crore women will get financial assistance by December 2024,” she added. Furthermore, all Anganwadi workers who had been excluded in the first two phases will be included in the third phase of BJP government’s flagship scheme aimed at empowering women.

According to the Mohan Majhi-led BJP  government, it is the largest women-centric scheme in the state aiming to benefit over one crore women. Under the scheme, all eligible beneficiaries aged 21 to 60 years will receive Rs 50,000 over five years, from 2024-25 to 2028-29.

Beneficiaries will get Rs 10,000 annually in two equal installments, credited directly to their Aadhaar-enabled, DBT-linked bank accounts.

The ambitious scheme was inaugurated by Prime Minister Modi on his birthday in Bhubaneswar.
