Six arrested for illegally selling of Lord Jagannath’s land in Puri

Baselisahi police has arrested as many as six persons involved in the illegal sale of Lord Jagannath’s land at Matitota area in Puri.

The arrested persons including the president and secretary of Mahaveer Janaseva Sangha have been forwarded to the court.

As per reports, the arrested persons have illegally sold many plots of Lord Jagannath from the total of 109 plots in the area through Notary.

It has been learnt that the valuable lands have been sold at throw away prices. The lands have been sold at only Rs 4.40 lakh rupees per two decimal area.

Following an allegation by Srimandir OSD, Baselisahi police launched an investigation into the incident and arrested as many as six persons in connection with the case. Net cash worth Rs 4.5 lakh has been seized from their possession.

It has been revealed from the preliminary investigation that there is a total transaction of Rs 28 lakh in the illegal land sale.

Following the order of the Chief Administrator, the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration had lodged the complaint about the matter in Baselisahi police station.

“Some people have encroached the lands of Lord Jagannath in Puri and selling those lands illegally. Thanks to the temple administration, legal proceeding against some persons of Matitota area was carried out and they have been arrested. More such steps should be taken against the persons who are involved in the illegal encroachment of Lord Jagannath’s lands,” said senior servitor Binayak Dasmohapatra.
