Broken aldrop of Sai Temple door in Aul
An alarming spate of burglaries swept through Odisha’s Kendrapara district, with some unidentified perpetrators targeting at least seven locations in a single night in Aul block, late Wednesday night. They stole valuables worth over lakhs of rupees.
According to sources, among the affected sites was the Malapatana Bhatua Bata Ashram, where a CCTV camera captured two individuals breaking in and fleeing with the stolen items after forcefully opening a donation box (Hundi) kept on the Ashram premises.
In the nearby Endola village, the local Sai Temple was also targeted, with thieves making off with more than Rs 30,000 from the donation box. Two more incidents were reported at Chandi Bazaar and three others at Bhuinpur Chhak, where five shops suffered break-ins, resulting in the loss of cash and several other goods.
Residents and shopkeepers have expressed their distress over the alleged robberies, urging for heightened security measures in response to the series of crimes.
Police investigations are underway, with a probe team reviewing CCTV footage to identify those responsible and to avert further occurrences.
“Unidentified miscreants barged into Sai Temple in Endola village and broke the Hundi lock. Later, they decamped with the entire money,” a resident Satyajit Sahoo said.
“We also got the information that two shops were looted at Chandi Bazaar and three more at Bhuinpur Chhak. A Hundi at Malapatana Bhatua Bata Ashram was also broken open and the cash in it was burgled,” the Endola resident expressed.
“Theft has been rampantly going on in the locality and we appeal to the local administration to carry out patrolling on a regular basis,” the resident further said.
