Scooter thief nabbed in Bhubaneswar after getting caught for traffic violation
In a surprising turn of events in Bhubaneswar, an individual, who was booked for traffic violation, actually turned out to have stolen the vehicle.
As per reports, the theft occurred in the Old Bhubaneswar area, but the escape plan was thwarted at Hanspal Square when the thief was tracked by the newly installed AI camera and fined for not wearing a helmet from the control room.
Traffic challan betrays trail
The owner of the scooter was playing cricket in a field after parking his scooter in the Old Town area. However, when he returned from the ground, he found to his utter dismay that his scooter was missing. Subsequently, he lodged a complaint at Lingaraj Police Station.

However, the owner of the scooter was later surprised upon receiving a notification for a traffic penalty of Rs 1,000, even though he was not in possession of the scooter at the time. This crucial information prompted the owner to file a complaint with the local police.
AI cameras in action!
Following the complaint, the police launched an investigation. They eventually tracked the suspect, who had intended to sell the stolen scooter in Cuttack. The authorities were successful in arresting the thief within 24 hours of the theft, thus concluding his brief evasion. While the thief was arrested, the vehicle was recovered.
As per sources, apart from traffic control, the AI cameras installed at various places in the Capital City will help the police track thieves and stolen vehicles with ease.
