“The state government is implementing several initiatives to boost science and technology. As part of this effort, a Science City will be established in the Capital City. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi has approved a proposal for the allocation of 100 acres in the State Capital for the project. Currently, only a few states in India have such facilities,” Minister Patra said.

“I have already visited Science Cities in Kolkata and Hyderabad, and soon, Bhubaneswar will have one of its own. It will showcase scientific inventions and innovations for both students and the general public,” the Science & Technology Minister stated.

“In addition, the State plans to set up a mega biotechnology park in Bhubaneswar. “We will invite major players in the biotechnology sector to establish their units here. The park will also include comprehensive research and development facilities,” Minister Patra added.

Notably, the proposed Science City will be on similar lines with one existing in Kolkata. This initiative is aimed to enhance Odisha’s scientific infrastructure, promote innovation, and cultivate the next generation of researchers and technology leaders.

This initiative is part of a broader vision of ‘Bikashita Odisha 2036’, with the goal of transforming the State into a hub for scientific advancement and research.
