SBI ATMs' shut down results in artificial cash crunch in Cuttack
Several Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) across Cuttack, particularly those operated by the State Bank of India (SBI), have been found non-functional since several days, reportedly leaving residents without cash.
Customers visiting these ATMs were met with notices on the counters, but no official explanation has been provided regarding the sudden closure.
As a result, people are facing significant difficulties in accessing their money, especially those relying on cash transactions, sources said.
“Since last one and half months, this ATM is closed. People, especially senior citizens, are facing a lot of hardship to withdraw cash. There are many SBI ATMs in the city which are not operational,” said a customer.
Echoing the same, another customer said, “This ATM is closed since last one month. As this ATM is close to the hospital, attendants of the patients rely on it to withdraw cash. But as it is not operational since long, many are facing difficulties. This problem should be addressed immediately.”

With no clarification from the SBI or any concerned authorities, frustrated customers are demanding an immediate resolution. Many are now forced to visit bank branches or look for alternative ATMs to withdraw cash.
Authorities are yet to issue a statement regarding the cause of the shutdown and when the normal services will resume.
