RPF accused of torturing two brothers in Sundargarh

A police complaint has been filed on charges of third-degree torture of two brothers by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) in Sundargarh. The victims have been identified as Chhotelal Ichagutu and Dumbi Ichagutu. Both of them have lodged a complaint in this connection at K Balang Police Station.

As per the allegation by Ichagutu brothers, who are residents of Chhidakud village under K Balang Police Station in the district, Bimalagarh RPF took them over theft suspicion around midnight and they were tortured throughout the night.

Both of them have sustained injuries in the process and are currently undergoing treatment at K Balang Hospital.

“RPF took us over our suspected involvement in a two-month-old theft case. When we feigned our ignorance and innocence over the matter, they thrashed us mercilessly and tortured in different ways throughout the night. We have sustained severe injuries in the process,” said Dumbi Ichagutu.

“Both the patients have sustained several injuries in their various parts of the body. They are currently undergoing treatment at the hospital. Their conditions have improved a little bit,” said Dr Aparnna Bhoi.

However, no reactions were received from the RPF officials in this regard.
