Royal Bengal Tiger crossing NH 16 caught on camera near Berhampur
A Royal Bengal Tiger was spotted while crossing the National Highway No. 16 near Roland College on the outskirts of Berhampur city on Wednesday. The video of the big cat crossing the highway was captured by a car camera and the clip has gone viral on social media platforms.
Following the sighting of the Royal Bengal Tiger, people in the area are now in a state of panic. The Forest Department personnel have intensified patrolling in the nearby areas and keeping a close watch on the movement of the big cat. They are also sensitizing people to remain alert and cooperate with the Forest Department personnel. Trap cameras have been installed at various places to track the movement of the tiger.
As per the forest officials, the tiger has been roaming in the area in search of food for last few days. Pug marks of the big cat were also found in the nearby areas.
Moreover, an auto driver has also recently claimed to have seen the tiger roaming near a mill along the Patrapur-Jayantipur main road.
As per the local residents, the tiger has so far killed a cow in Padmapur and a goat in Chikiti area. Forest Department officials have launched an investigation into the allegations.
