It seems that Rourkela Police has now stepped up investigation into the mysterious death of assistant collector Sushmita Minj, whose body was recovered from a pond on September 19. The development comes in the wake of series of protests launched by several political and other groups demanding an impartial probe into the incident.
Deputy SP (DSP) of Investigative Unit on Crime Against Women (IUCAW) Banita Majhi on Friday interrogated deceased Assistant Collector, Sushmita Minj’s husband at Rourkela SP office. I
t is for the first time that Minj’s husband has been quizzed by the police in connection with the incident. It is learnt that the couple had tied nuptial knot a year back and was heading for a divorce. Police are trying to ascertain why the couple wanted to get separated and what happened between them that led to such estranged relationship.
It is pertinent to mention here that Minj’s husband Sushil is a bank employee. The Assistant Collector’s family had earlier had lodged a complaint with Plant Site police alleging that Sushmita Minj was murdered.
Suspense Over Meeting
On September 16, a meeting was held at Rourkela ADM office and what the ADM and Collector said to Assistant Collector Sushmita Minj during the meeting? In FIR, the family members had also pointed towards pressure. Sundargarh Collector and Rourkela ADM have not revealed anything before the media over such allegations.
