Srimandir Management Committee finalizes schedule of Rath Yatra 2025 rituals

The Srimandir Management Committee assembled under the chairmanship of Puri King Dibyasingha Deb in Puri on Monday to finalise the itinerary for the annual Rath Yatra.

As per sources, the committee has approved the schedule for the various rituals, prepared in the 'Chhatisha Nijoga' meeting,  to be performed on the occasion of the upcoming Rath Yatra.

 This significant cultural and religious event, marking the chariot procession of the Holy Trinity- Lord Jagannath and His sibling deities Lord Balabhadra and Goddess Subhadra, is scheduled for 27 June this year.

Key Itinerary Highlights

It has been decided that this year's Rath Yatra will commence with the 'Mangala Alati' ceremony at 6 am, followed by the Rath Pratishtha rituals, that will be completed by 9 am.

 The 'Pahandi Bije' procession to escort the deities to the chariots is set to start around 9:30 am and will be completed by 12:30 pm.

The traditional 'Chera Pahara', a ceremonial sweeping atop the chariots by the Gajapati King, will take place between 2:30pm to 3 pm. The chariots will then be pulled from 4 pm.

The meeting also confirmed plans for the Deva Snana Purnima rituals set for June 11. The popular 'Hati Besha' or Elephant attire of the deities will occur at 4.30 pm. On the occasion of Bahuda Yatra, marking the return journey, the chariot pulling is scheduled to start by 4 pm.

These proceedings underscore the meticulous planning involved in one of India's most celebrated festivals, attracting thousands of devotees and visitors globally.
