14 arrested during raid on illegal coal depot in Cuttack

At least 14 coal mafias were arrested by police during a raid at an illegal coal depot along National Highway No.55 in Athgarh area under Cuttack district on Friday.

As per reports, the stolen coal was being transported by various trucks and covertly stored in the nearby forested area. The illegal operation involved distributing large amounts of coal to different locations on a daily basis.

The raid was executed based on reliable intelligence received by the police, who dispatched a dedicated team to the depot. The operation culminated in the seizure of two mini-trucks and the apprehension of 14 individuals, who are now in police custody.

Police are currently conducting an investigation, during which they are interrogating the arrested suspects to dismantle the broader network involved in these activities.

“Based on reliable intelligence, we conducted a raid on the illegal coal depot. At least 14 persons involved in the illicit activities have been arrested and two mini trucks loaded with coals have been seized. The arrested persons will be forwarded to Court today,” said Tangi Choudwar SDPO Umakant Nayak.
