Odisha government has recently warned stern action against the employees trying to influence transfers and postings. The State government has prohibited the employees from exercising any form of direct or indirect influence to secure favourable transfers and postings.

In response, senior BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra said that all the officers always want posting in convenient places and all the MLAs and MPs want to keep good officials in their constituencies.

The senior saffron party leader also said that the public representatives have rights for this. He further said that there was wayward governance during the BJD government and such practice is not going on during the current tenure of BJP.

“We don’t know if any political leader is putting any kind of pressure. All the officers usually want to be posted in convenient places. The government should decide who will be in which place. During their (BJD) time, nothing was done by the public
representatives. They might be feeling jealous now,” said Mishra.

“Supreme Court has also ordered that the MPs and MLAs have the rights to keep good officers in their constituencies. Don’t I want an honest officer to come to my constituency? A MLA will want a good and efficient officer to be in his constituency and there is nothing wrong with it,” he added.

In response, BJD said that there is nothing new in the process.

“For the interest of the people, efficient officers are posted at different places to execute government work. There is nothing new in the process,” said BJD MLA Dhruba Sahoo.

Meanwhile, Congress said that the ruling party should not be indulged in corruption by saying like this.

“The government should come forward to reduce corruption and we will welcome any step in this regard. However, it will not be good if the ruling party will be indulged in corruption by putting pressure through the public representatives,” said Congress leader Ram Chandra Kadam.
