Politics has now intensified both in Odisha and Chhattisgarh over the alleged links between Uttar Pradesh’s dreaded criminal Guddu Muslim and Raja Khan, who was recently quizzed by the Special Task Force (STF) of UP in Odisha’s Bargarh district.

Guddu Muslim is one of the close aides of gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed who was recently killed along with his brother. Guddu Muslim is currently on the run and it was said that he had visited several places in Odisha including Puri and Bargarh.

Commenting on the issue of the link between the most wanted criminal Guddu Muslim and Raja Khan, SP of Mahasamund in Chhattisgarh, Dharmendra Singh Chawai said, “Raja Khan belongs to Mahasamund area and three cases were registered against him.”

According to the senior police officer, Raja Khan is staying at Sohela in Bargarh district for the past four years.

“There is no evidence regarding his stay in Mahasamund area now. No information has been shared with us by Odisha or Uttar Pradesh officials regarding STF searching for Raja Khan in Odisha,” said Chawai.

It is pertinent to mention that UP STF had interrogated Raja Khan on April 18. The State unit of BJP has targeted both Odisha and Chhattisgarh governments over the entire incident.

Anurag Singh, Spokesperson of Chhattisgarh BJP said, “Chhattisgarh CM and Home Minister need to clarify where Guddu Muslim is hiding in Chhattisgarh. How the state government is unaware of Guddu Muslim who has links with the underworld. It appears that the Chhattisgarh government has crossed all limits of appeasement politics.”

Not only in Chhattisgarh, politics has also intensified over Raja Khan’s links with Guddu Muslim in Odisha as well.

It may be recalled that Raja Khan alias Md Arshad was arrested based on the complaint filed by a BJP leader during the violence that erupted during Bijepur bypoll. The Bijepur bypoll was necessitated following the death of MLA Subal Sahu. It clearly shows that Raja Khan was actively involved in politics in Odisha and also has political connections here.
