PM Modi to lay foundation stone for Rayagada Railway Division on January 6

Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lay the foundation stone for the Rayagada Railway Division and also video-conference the inaugurations of important railway infrastructure projects on January 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM. The Prime Minister will join the event from Jammu virtually, while other dignitaries will gather at Rayagada, Odisha.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to open the New Jammu Railway Division and the Charlapalli New Terminal Station. He will also lay the foundation stone for the Rs 107 crores Rayagada Railway Division project.

The Rayagada Railway Division project will feature several important features to upgrade the railway infrastructure in the region. The headquarters will be located in Rayagada with a DRM office building that is modern, a divisional control office for handling the operations, and residential facilities for officers and staff. 

Additionally, the project will enhance connectivity through connecting roads, adequate circulating areas, and parking facilities and implementation of rainwater harvesting systems for sustainability.

This mega project is expected to bring in various benefits, like better transportation connectivity and connectivity for the region as a whole. It is sure to boost the economy, particularly in the tribal belt of South Odisha, and create job opportunities. 

Setting up the Rayagada Railway Division will also mean better management of railway operations in the region, closer connections with passengers, and local industries.

The foundation stone ceremony will be graced by a number of dignitaries like Governor of Odisha Kambhampati Hari Babu, Chief Minister of Odisha Mohan Charan Majhi and Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh Bittu.
