PM Narendra Modi interacts with PM Awas beneficiaries in Bhubaneswar
Prime Minister Narendra Modi initiated ‘Gruha Prabesha’ (entry into new houses) of PM Awas beneficiaries in Shabara Sahi area of Gadakana in Bhubaneswar on the occasion of his 74th birthday on Tuesday.
PM Modi was welcomed as per the traditional Odia culture by the residents of the area. He enjoyed Odia delicacy- ‘Khiri’ at a beneficiary’s home and worshipped Lord Jagannath there.
The PM also interacted with the beneficiaries in the area. As per reports, PM Modi enquired about the economic conditions of the beneficiaries and asked them whether they are getting benefits of various government schemes or not. Chief Minister Mohan Majhi was present on the occasion.
As per sources, PM Modi requested one and all to plant a tree under ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (Maa pain gachha tie) initiative.
Earlier, the Prime Minister arrived at Bhubaneswar Airport and proceeded to Gadakana area in his carcade amid tight security. Hundreds of people on both the sides of barricades along the road welcomed the PM and showered their love on him by holding placards and shouting slogans. They wished him ‘happy birthday’ and prayed for his long and healthy life.
Several women also waited to offer PM Modi special Odia delicacy ‘Rasagola’ on the occasion of his birthday. Though it was raining, huge rush was witnessed as people thronged in large numbers on both sides of the road to greet and cheer for him on his way to Gadakana. Some people also greeted PM Modi with traditional music and dance.
“We are ecstatic that our ‘Jasaswi’ Prime Minister Narendra Modi is among us and celebrating his birthday with the people of Odisha. We wish a long and healthy life for him on the occasion of his birthday,” said a woman.
“It’s a great day for us. We got a glimpse of him while he was on his way to Gadakana. I will start a small business after getting money through Subhadra Yojana," said another woman.
PM Modi will inaugurate the Subhadra Yojana- a significant initiative designed for women of Odisha at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar, later today. The scheme promises to empower the women of the State.
With a budget of Rs 55,825 crore allocated for the next five years (2024-29), the financial assistance of Rs 10,000 a year will be provided in two installments – first on the Raksha Bandhan and the second on the International Women’s Day, every year.
