Over 70 passengers’ returning from Hyderabad trapped as bus overturns in Odisha, rescued
A passenger bus carrying passengers from Hyderabad overturned in the Bijaghati area of Malkangiri district in Odisha after reportedly losing balance on the ghat road on Monday. The accident occurred while the bus was returning with passengers from Hyderabad.
According to sources, more than 70 passengers sitting in the vehicle were trapped after the bus overturned on the ghat. The driver lost control and overturned the vehicle at a curve on the ghat road, leading to the mishap, reports said.
At least 20 passengers suffered injuries in the mishap. Local people rushed to the rescue of the injured and safely evacuated them. On being informed, local police also rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation. The 20 injured have been admitted to the local hospital.
While the exact reason for the mishap is yet to be ascertained, sources attributed it to a technical glitch in the bus. Fortunately, there has been no report of any casualties due to the tragic mishap.
