It is a dream came true for several farmers, women traders and others from Odisha when they got a call from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) to attend the Independence Day celebrations in New Delhi. It is a proud moment for every Indian to watch the Prime Minister hoisting the Tricolour from the ramparts of the Red Fort on the Independence Day.
The special Independence Day invite for several persons from Odisha who have carved a niche for themselves in various fields is certainly inspiring and a moment of pride.
Santoshini Mishra of Sonepur is now on cloud nine after getting the invitation for the mega day. The woman farmer from Khairatikra village is carrying out farming on six acres of land by organic method. Apart from becoming self-reliant, she is also providing employment to six other families in the village.
“I am a small village farmer and Prime Minister has called me to attend the Independence Day celebrations. It is a matter of great pride for me,” said Santoshini.
Yuvraj Chhatria, another farmer from Nuapada will also be among the invitees for the Independence Day in Delhi. He is doing millet farming under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Nidhi Yojana.
“I have got assistance from the Centre and I am doing millets cultivation,” said Yuvraj.
The story of Jagyaseni Putel of Titilagarh is also no different as she has been able to ensure that the government schemes reach the grassroots.
Signidha Meher, the managing director of a company has been successful in procuring cotton worth Rs 77 lakh from farmers and selling them in Maharashtra. She too has got the special Independence Day invitation from the PMO.
“During the Covid pandemic, I along with other SHG women members had created awareness among people. We had also prepared masks and distributed during the pandemic,” said Jagyaseni. “I am happy and all the farmers of the company are also elated over such an invitation,” said Meher.
