Odisha villagers gherao police station over girl’s kidnap, demand arrest of ‘kidnapper’
A high voltage drama was witnessed outside Dunguripalli police station in Subarnapur district after a youth of a neighbouring village allegedly kidnaped a girl.
Demanding immediate arrest of the ‘kidnapper’, villagers gheraoed Dunguripalli police station and resorted to protest. Alleging inaction, the villagers staged a sit-in protest outside the police station until their demands were met. Under pressure, police detained the youth and brought him for interrogation.

Although a complaint was lodged in this connection, police did little to rescue the girl and arrest the alleged ‘kidnapper’.
