CM Mohan Majhi during a review meet at Lok Seva Bhawan, Bhubaneswar
Odisha is all set to implement the ambitious ‘Godabarisha Mishra Adarsha Prathamika Vidyalaya Yojana’, the scheme to transform primary education in the state. This was revealed by CM Mohan Majhi during a review meeting of the various measures for the improvement of primary education.
Under this initiative, at least 6794 new modern primary schools will be constructed across all panchayats in the state creating an ideal learning environment inspired by the legacy of the ‘Satyabadi Vana Vidyalaya’. This will focus majorly on enhancing children’s linguistic and arithmetic skills to better prepare the students for higher education.
CM Mohan Majhi emphasized that ‘Godabarisha Mishra Adarsha Prathamika Vidyalaya Yojana’ will strengthen fundamental learning, and foster intellectual development through quality infrastructure, holistic education and a supportive learning environment.
Each new school will be well equipped with dedicated classrooms, separate toilets for boys and girls, computers, language labs, digital libraries, boundary walls, playgrounds, dining halls, and more. Sports, physical fitness and social and cultural education will also be integrated into the curriculum.
Moreover, the Odisha government has developed plans to preserve and conserve heritage schools – institutions over 100 years old or dating back to the pre-Independence era. To honour Odisha’s historical and educational legacy, a total of 45 heritage schools will be revamped.
The CM also emphasised on the improvement of MDM system and the development of Odisha Adarsha Vidyalayas.
