CM Mohan Majhi
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Majhi launched a broadside on the previous BJD government and accused the conch party of using the police as a political weapon during its tenure.
Launching a scathing attack on the BJD during the annual day celebration of the Havildar Mahasangha in Cuttack, Majhi said, “The previous BJD government misused the police force. The conch party was deploying police at political events while providing protection to capitalists, businessmen and criminals.”
“The former Naveen Patnaik-led government ignored the problems faced by police personnel. The police association was dismantled and elections within the police force were not conducted despite repeated demands by the association’s office bearers,” Majhi said.

Highlighting the newly formed BJP government’s initiatives in the State, Majhi said that since coming to power, his government ensured elections for the police association and is committed to enabling the police to work independently and effectively in the future.
He assured that the government would extend all necessary support to the police force.
“Our police is very efficient. However, due to unnecessary political interference during the BJD government, the police could not perform duties independently leading to a rise in crimes in the State. But, our government will ensure all necessary support to the police force,” the CM added.
