Many of us dream big in life, but a few showcase the extraordinary perseverance to achieve them in the face of adversities.
In one such case, an MBBS student from Odisha’s Kandhamal district has been working hard to complete his studies and give wings to his dream.
Ifu Mallick, a native of Bagramila village under Mediakia police limits, has been working in the farmland to meet the expenses of his course. He is a first year MBBS student of Saheed Laxman Nayak (SLN) Medical College and Hospital, Koraput.
“Though I managed to take admission in the MBBS course, my family cannot afford the hostel fees, admission fees, mess fees throughout my study for the next five years. Our family comes under BPL (below poverty line) category. My parents have also become old and are unable to earn income,” said Ifu.
After taking admission, now Ifu takes up various works to earn some money to meet his expenses. Apart from helping his family in harvesting paddy, he works in the farmlands of others to earn some money to fund his studies.
“I am nurturing the dream of becoming a good doctor and my dream cannot be fulfilled without the help. Through the OTV, I would like to request all to extend a helping hand so that I can complete my medical studies and serve society,” said Mallick.
Dehuri Mallick, mother of Ifu said, “So far we somehow managed to bear the expenses of his studies by borrowing money from others. Now we cannot do labour and earn money to fund his studies. We somehow run our family with the pension money. Now he needs the help of all to continue his studies,”
Deimati Nayak, a resident of Midiakia said, “Ifu’s parents are old enough now to earn and fund his studies. He cuts paddy with us and takes up other works to arrange money for his studies. If financial help is extended to him, he can complete his medical studies.”
