Police on Tuesday cracked the mystery surrounding the death of Nischala Mohapatra in Choudwar Police limits of Cuttack, stating that it was a pre-planned murder over an extramarital affair. 

Police arrested Nischala’s wife Suhasini Mohapatra and her paramour identified as Purnachandra Maharana of Chudang village under Choudwar Police limits. Purnachandra was the mastermind of the gruesome murder.  
According to police, Nischala was burned to death by Purnchandra as part of his criminal conspiracy with Suhasini. 

As per reports, police rescued a man who was critically burnt on Badhi ground in Choudwar on December 1st night, and was admitted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack where he died the next day. The deceased was identified as Nischala Mohapatra of Dimiri village under Gobindapur Police limits.

Choudwar Police registered a case and started an investigation into the matter and later came to know that Nischala’s wife and her paramour were involved in the murder.

Police arrested the duo who admitted their crime. Police said Nischala was working in Paradip while his wife Suhasini had developed an illicit relationship with Purnachandra. The duo hatched a conspiracy to eliminate Nischala. Purnachandra invited Nischala to his house and later both came together to Badhipadia where they had liquor. When Nischala was under the spell of liquor, Purnchandra doused petrol on him and set him afire before fleeing the spot. 

As for the murder, Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra said, “During the investigation, police got some circumstantial evidence about the murder. A forensic team had given some clues.  It was a pre-planned murder. The mastermind of the crime is Purnachandra Moharana (39) and Nishala’s wife, Suhasini was also involved.”
