Odisha launches Rs 7 crore Jayadev Pitha redevelopment project to honour poet Jayadeva’s legacy

Odisha's Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi, has inaugurated a transformational Rs 7 crore initiative to develop Jayadev Pitha at Kenduli in Khordha. This site, renowned as the birthplace of the celebrated Sanskrit poet Jayadeva, is set to become a prominent spiritual and cultural centre.

Speaking at the Jayadev Jayanti festivities, Chief Minister Majhi underlined the integral role of Jayadev and his magnum opus 'Geeta Govinda' in shaping Odisha's cultural heritage.

The Jayadev Pitha project aims to cultivate a centre dedicated to literature, culture, and spirituality. It includes the creation of flower gardens, ten lotus ponds, and lush green landscapes, designed to echo the natural beauty of Jayadeva's era.

Infrastructure and Community Initiatives

Planned enhancements feature a grand entrance gate, a Dasavatar plaza, and upgraded facilities at the lotus pond. Additional developments comprise crafting groves, artisanal shops, and food courts, intended to enhance the site's allure.

Reaffirming the state government's dedication to preserving the legacies of Odisha's distinguished figures, Chief Minister Majhi described the project as a testament to these ongoing efforts.

Call for Oversight and Support

The Chief Minister called on Bhubaneswar Member of Parliament (MP) Aparajita Sarangi to supervise the project's progress and oversee the transformation of Jayadev Pitha into a model village.

He stressed that cultivating Jayadev Pitha aligns with the state's broader objectives to safeguard cultural heritage and commemorate its eminent personalities.

Majhi instructed the Culture, Tourism, and Information & Public Relations departments to formulate a comprehensive project report. Esteemed guests, including Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, MLA Babu Singh, and senior department officials, were present at the event.
