Odisha govt releases Rs 1,041 Cr aid under CM Kisan Yojana to 51 lakh farmers ahead of Nuakhai

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi released financial aid of Rs 1,041 crore to more than 51 lakh farmers under the CM Kisan Yojana on Wednesday, a day before the agrarian festival Nuakhai.

As per official sources, nearly 51 lakh small and marginal farmers across the State benefitted from the initiative. Each farmer received Rs 2,000 directly in their bank accounts as part of the Rabi 2025-26 installment of the scheme.

Under the scheme, small and marginal farmers are entitled to receive Rs 4,000 every year in two equal installments. 

Launched during last year’s Nuakhai celebrations, the CM Kisan Yojana initially benefitted about 46 lakh farmers, including landless cultivators. Over the past year, the coverage has been widened, bringing more than 5 lakh additional beneficiaries under its fold.

Officials of the Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment Department said the assistance credited directly into farmers’ bank accounts through DBT today. The state-level disbursement programme iwas attended by senior ministers, officials, and farmer representatives.

Nuakhai, considered as the most significant harvest festival in western Odisha, symbolises the joy of farmers as they prepare to consume the season’s first produce.

With the financial aid reaching accounts ahead of the festival, the government hopes to provide timely relief and strengthen rural households during the celebratory season.
