Odisha to invest Rs 10000000000 for 500 km disaster-resilient rural roads

The Odisha government has unveiled a major infrastructure initiative aimed at boosting rural connectivity in disaster-prone areas of the State.

As part of the plan, around 500 kilometres of rural roads will be upgraded at an estimated cost of Rs 1,000 crore.

According to an official resolution issued by the Rural Development Department, the project will be executed under the MMSY–Disaster Resilient Roads Scheme.

The implementation period has been fixed for five years, spanning 2025–26 to 2029–30, with the entire expenditure to be borne by the State exchequer.

The Department emphasized that the project is designed to build all-weather, disaster-resilient road infrastructure. The upgraded roads are expected to ensure uninterrupted transport, strengthen access to essential services, and enhance connectivity for communities frequently affected by natural calamities.
