Flag March By Police

In view of Hanuman Jayanti celebrations, Odisha Police has made extensive security arrangements to ensure law and order are maintained. With the festival often drawing large gatherings and religious processions, the administration is leaving no stone unturned to prevent any untoward incident.

Odisha Police On High Alert

The Odisha Police has deployed around 200 platoons of security forces across the state to manage the celebrations and ensure public safety. A continuous flag march is being conducted in sensitive areas to establish a sense of security and deter criminal activity.

ADG (Law and Order) Sanjay Kumar said, “Around 10 companies of Central Armed Police Force, including 3 companies of Rapid Action Force have been deployed. Along with this 200 platoons of police force has been deployed. Specific briefing has been done and 650 CCTV cameras have been installed.”

Kumar said that an adequate number of drones will also be deployed which will give direct feed to the control room. To enhance surveillance, the police are utilizing 650 CCTV cameras and 40 drones to monitor crowd movement and sensitive zones.

In Sambalpur, where large-scale celebrations are expected, authorities are using LED displays and drones for aerial surveillance.

Police personnel in plain-clothes have been deployed along with mobile vehicles to carry out on-ground monitoring discreetly. Every district has been equipped with a modern control room to coordinate the activities and respond swiftly in case of emergencies.

District Collectors and Superintendents of Police (SPs) have already conducted peace committee meetings with community leaders to ensure communal harmony and cooperation during the festivities. Additional forces have been deployed in identified sensitive areas, especially near religious sites, where police picketing is ongoing.

Furthermore, Executive Magistrates will be present in key locations to manage law and order situations directly. Considering the impact of Kalbaishakhi (summer thunderstorms) and the ongoing heat wave, special arrangements have also been made for the comfort and safety of the public during outdoor events and processions.

To tackle misinformation and prevent communal tensions, a special cyber monitoring team has been constituted to track social media platforms. The team will focus on identifying and taking action against those spreading fake news, provocative content, or caste-based remarks online.

ADG (Law & Order) Sanjay Kumar addressed the media and assured that the police are fully prepared to ensure peaceful celebrations. “All necessary precautions have been taken. We appeal to the public to cooperate with the administration and report any suspicious activity,” he stated.

As Odisha readies for a spiritually vibrant day with back-to-back significant observances, the state police remain on high alert to maintain peace and harmony.
